The Volumez team is very honored to be selected into the 2025 Gems list by Coldago Research. Coldago Research is an independent firm that’s been around since 2009, based in Paris. They’re all about Data Management and Storage Technologies, with a ton of expertise in the field – especially thanks to Philippe Nicolas, their lead analyst, who’s got 30 years of experience under his belt. Coldago Research Gems list
The Coldago Gem list is basically a yearly roundup of 5 players to keep an eye on. These are the ones making waves thanks to their innovation, product development, recent moves, and overall potential to disrupt the market. The focus is really on their tech and the way they’re pushing boundaries with their products. It’s all about spotting the future leaders in the space before they take off.
We are in an elite group in 2025 with ExaGrid, Leil Storage, Qstar Technologies, and Wasabi. Some impressive previous year Gems include: Veeam, Pure Storage, WekaIO, Cohesity, Rubrik, and VAST Data. See the Gems lists here.
“We have followed Volumez since the early days of the company and watch their development, team evolution, product iterations with some interesting innovations and how their solution shakes the market established positions. We estimate that Volumez really brings something compelling on the market and deserves to be watched carefully during the coming months. All these points invited us to elect Volumez as a Gem for 2025,” said Philippe Nicolas, Founder and Analyst, Coldago Research.
Who is Volumez?
Volumez is a pioneer in cloud-aware data infrastructure services with our innovative Data Infrastructure as a Service (DIaaS) platform. In a bold step forward, we are redefining how organizations manage, store, and leverage data in the cloud era, offering unprecedented performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
As cloud environments evolve, the gap between what organizations need and what cloud providers offer has become increasingly evident. Enterprises demand superior price/performance compared to traditional on-premises systems, yet shared storage architectures in the cloud often undermine these objectives. The rise of AI/ML pipelines has only further highlighted the limitations of current cloud storage models, with overprovisioning and unpredictable performance resulting in skyrocketing costs.
Volumez’ DIaaS platform is engineered to address these challenges, offering tailor-made data infrastructures that adapt to a variety of workloads while optimizing cost and performance. Volumez DIaaS dynamically builds optimized, balanced systems in any cloud by intelligently orchestrating compute, network, and storage resources from the cloud provider’s inventory. The result is a data infrastructure tailored to a workloads’ specific requirements. DIaaS delivers a next-generation data infrastructure solution that scales with business needs while controlling costs for high-performance, data-intensive workloads in any cloud.
In summary, Volumez stands out as a premier partner for organizations seeking to harness the power of their data through advanced, reliable, and economically viable cloud-aware data infrastructure.
